Glossary¶
This glossary defines key terms used throughout the CIW documentation.
A¶
Aeronautics A mod that adds airships, planes, and flight physics to the server. Aircraft require fuel and cannot be kept simulating while players are offline.
B¶
Brass casing A machine chassis made from brass ingots. Brass casings are the base part for most Create machines, including mixers, deployers, and mechanical crafters.
Bulk processing An automation method that uses encased fans with a heat source to process items without furnaces. Supports washing, smelting, and haunting.
C¶
CC:BR (Create: CC Better Recipes) A mod that rebalances CC:Tweaked recipes to require Create materials (brass, copper, zinc, etc.) instead of vanilla items.
Claim A chunk protected by FTB Chunks. Blocks, interactions, and entities in a claimed chunk are restricted to team allies by default. Each team may claim up to 250 chunks.
Create The core automation mod on CIW. Create uses rotational power (shafts, gearboxes, belts) to drive mechanical crafters, mixers, deployers, and presses.
Crushing wheel A Create component that crushes items into processed forms. Crushing wheels are faster than millstones but require more rotational power.
D¶
Deployer A Create component that simulates player interactions. Deployers can place blocks, apply items to crafting grids, and use tools on blocks. They are essential for sequenced assembly.
F¶
Force-loading A method to keep chunks simulating when no player is nearby. FTB Chunks allows up to 4 force-loaded chunks per team. Use force-loading for factories, quarries, and oil rigs.
FTB Chunks The land protection mod on CIW. FTB Chunks handles chunk claiming, force-loading, and ally permissions.
G¶
Gearbox A Create component that transfers rotational power between perpendicular shafts. Gearboxes are used to change the direction of rotation in factories.
Gunsmith Table A crafting station used to craft TACZ firearms and ammunition. All CIW gun and ammo recipes are crafted at the Gunsmith Table.
H¶
Heated mixing A Create mixing process that requires a heat source (lava, fire, or a Blaze Burner). Steel is made by heated mixing of iron ingots with charcoal dust.
I¶
Integrated circuit A Power Grid component that gates late-game technology. Integrated circuits are required for all radar components, advanced electrical systems, and some automation.
M¶
Mechanical bearing A Create component that allows attached blocks to rotate. Mechanical bearings are used in oil pumpjacks and radar arrays.
Mechanical crafting A Create method for shaped recipes that use mechanical crafters. Some items, such as the pumpjack crank, require mechanical crafting rather than a standard crafting table.
Mechanical drill A Create component that mines ore veins continuously when supplied with rotational power. Mechanical drills are the foundation of renewable resource extraction on CIW.
Millstone A Create component that processes items into crushed forms. Millstones are slower than crushing wheels but use less rotational power.
O¶
Ore vein An underground deposit of raw ore. Create Ore Excavation adds renewable ore veins that produce raw ore when a mechanical drill is placed on them. Ore veins come in three tiers: basic, diamond, and netherite.
P¶
Packed gunpowder A compacted form of gunpowder made by pressing 9 gunpowder in a Create press. Packed gunpowder is used in artillery and some industrial recipes.
Precision mechanism A high-value component made via sequenced assembly. Precision mechanisms gate oil scanners, radar components, aircraft propellers, and industrial firearms. Each assembly cycle has an 80% success rate.
Pumpjack An oil extraction machine built on top of a crude oil deposit. The pumpjack consists of four parts: bearing, hole, head, and crank. It extracts crude oil continuously when force-loaded.
R¶
Radar A detection system that tracks players and aircraft at long range. Radar range equals the number of dishes or plates multiplied by 10 blocks. Height and line of sight do not affect detection.
Rotational power The mechanical energy produced by water wheels, windmills, or diesel engines. Rotational power drives Create components such as shafts, belts, mixers, and presses. Measured in stress units.
S¶
Sequenced assembly A Create crafting method that repeats a sequence of actions on an item. Precision mechanisms are made by sequenced assembly with 5 cycles, each with an 80% success rate.
Shaft A Create component that transmits rotational power. Shafts are the simplest way to connect a power source to a machine.
Steel plate A processed form of steel made by pressing a steel ingot through a mechanical press. Steel plates are required for industrial firearms, radar dishes, aircraft components, and advanced ammunition.
Stress The load placed on a rotational power system. Each Create component consumes a certain amount of stress. If total stress exceeds the power source capacity, machines slow down or stop.
T¶
TACZ (Timeless and Classics Zero) The firearms mod on CIW. TACZ adds guns, ammunition, and the Gunsmith Table. CIW overrides TACZ default recipes with industrial batch crafting via KubeJS.
Torch A light source block. Torches are not a rotational power source.
W¶
War-claim A temporary claim that allows terrain destruction in specific chunks. War-claims are used for pre-declared battles. Outside war-claims, weapons do not destroy blocks.
Water wheel A Create power source that generates rotational power from flowing water. Water wheels are the earliest renewable power source on CIW.
Windmill A Create power source that generates rotational power from wind. Windmills require sails and produce more power than water wheels.
